Christmas 2003

 

This year we are taking on, as a parish, the obligation of providing Christmas presents for the poor and unfortunate people of Lake County. We joined with several other Parishes in Lake County and Catholic Charities as we took care of about 1500 different individuals. Tags were given out to the parishioners on the last Sunday of November. People were instructed to bring the presents with them to Church on the Second Sunday of Advent. They were then carried up to the altar and placed under the trees. After the last Mass several trucks and vans were made available to carry the presents to an unused wharehouse in the Lakehurst Mall. People who had arranged for the presents came to the mall to pick them up on the last three days of that week. It was a very well organized and lovely way to reach out to those in need.
